The eMartCart® Legacy Premium Service Features

We are pleased to announce that the eMartCart® Service has recently been purchased by Longhair Technologies, Inc. If you are already a Legacy Premium Service customer, please watch for upcoming e-mails announcing our new services and features. The Legacy Premium Service will be continued for existing customers and the following features will continue to be supported:

  • In addition to PayPal, you can accept credit card payments through 2CheckOut.com and online check payments through PayByCheck.com.

  • You can have orders sent directly to you via e-mail, rather than checking out through any of the card services. This allows you to accept payment by check or money order, or to otherwise contact the customer to complete the transaction. Even if you are using one of the card services for final payment, you can use this feature to manually process the order, then send the customer a request for payment through one of the card services. (For example, if you are using a shipping method that does not allow you to specify shipping costs without knowing the shipping address, you can receive the orders, manually calculate shipping, and then send a request for payment.) These orders can be sent to a separate mailbox, so you can put an "auto-responder" message on that mailbox to automatically reply to your customers with the necessary payment instructions.

  • The eMartCart® Legacy Premium service receives payment notification messages from PayPal and 2CheckOut so you will only receive order messages from transactions that are actually completed. These order messages will include the customer's name, e-mail address, and shipping address. Your customers also receive copies of their orders. The customer's e-mail address will be included as the "Reply To" address for the messages, so you can easily acknowledge the order, including using an "auto-responder". (With the free PayPal service, you will receive orders every time a customer "checks out", even if the payment is not completed in PayPal; you have to match up payment notices from PayPal with the order details from eMartCart® to know where to ship each order or contact a customer; and the customer does not receive a copy of the order detail.)

  • With the eMartCart® Legacy Premium service, you can have your own logo or company name on your shopping cart page, instead of the eMartCart® logo.

  • You can offer your customers discounts; either a flat discount rate on orders over a specified total order price, or volume discounts on each individual item.

  • You can offer selected customers special discounts with passwords or coupon numbers. Each password or coupon number can have its own discount rate.

  • You can offer products that have different pricing options, without creating buttons for each option. The product options are shown, with prices, in a pull-down menu over a single "order" button.

  • You can charge for shipping or handling based on the total cost of the order. You can use this feature instead of the "per item" charges or in addition to those charges. You can also specify that shipping is free for orders over a given amount.

  • An enhanced shipping cost calculation allows you to charge by multiples of a specified quantity, which allows you to more accurately charge for shipping according to the way you package multiples of the same (or similar) items.

  • The enhanced "Selections" pull-down lists for each item can include options that have additional costs that will be added to the product's base price if those options are selected.

  • You can define text input boxes where customers can enter special text or descriptions, such as their names, where appropriate for a product.

  • You can have as many Selections as needed for each item instead of only two. You can use the additional costs or text input features with any of these.

  • You can have a special "Thank You" page URL which your customers will be directed to after successfully completing a payment.

  • There is a second Tax field, so you can have one rate for state taxes and another for city or county taxes.

  • The Legacy Premium service allows you to optionally specify that sales tax is to be collected on shipping charges, which is required in some (but not most) states.

  • You can specify fixed quantities for an item which the customer can select from a pull-down list over the "order" button before ordering.

  • You can specify a minimum order amount, which is useful if you sell low-priced items but would like to require a lower limit on the dollar amount of the total order.
  • How eMartCart® Works

    The eMartCart® system is a shopping cart "front end" for the PayPal and 2CheckOut.com, online credit card payment systems, and the PayByCheck.com online check payment system. With PayPal, anyone can take credit card orders online, and you don't need a special merchant bank account. With 2CheckOut.com, you can quickly have the added security, power, and professional appearance of a standard merchant account, with account setup in minutes instead of weeks, no term contracts, no gateway fees or equipment leases, and a simple fee structure.

    With PayByCheck.com, you can also accept checks online, as conveniently as credit cards.

    To use eMartCart® with PayPal, you must have a Premier or Business account with PayPal. This is because eMartCart® uses the "Web Accept" service that is only available with those accounts, not with PayPal's free service. There is no setup fee or monthly charge for a PayPal Premier or Business account. You will want to provide a "verified" bank account in order to get direct deposits. See the PayPal site for complete details.

    To use eMartCart® with 2CheckOut.com, you will need to open an account, which takes just minutes and costs only $49. Unlike other merchant accounts, you will not need to pay any application fee, monthly fees, gateway fees, statement fees, or leases, and there are no monthly minimums or maximums. You pay a simple $0.45 plus 5.5% of the transaction amount, and you and your customers will have all the buyer and seller protections that come only with true merchant account transactions.

    With eMartCart® and any of the payment services, you will save money by not needing to pay extra for an "e-commerce" type of Web site: You don't need any interactive programs or "secure server" certificates on your Web site. You can simply add eMartCart® to even the least expensive "bare bones" sites provided by commercial hosting services, or even to the site provided by your ISP or any of the various free Web site hosts on the net. All you need are standard HTML pages with "Order" buttons linked to eMartCart®. You can create these pages with our Create a Catalog Page form and then upload these pages to your site. Or you can use the form to create the HTML for "Order" buttons only and add them to any existing pages that you already have, or to any new pages that you create with your favorite HTML editor.

    When a customer clicks on an "Order" button, he or she will be taken to the eMartCart® site and that item will be added to the shopping cart. On the cart page, the customer can change the quantity, select an optional shipping method (if you provide more than one), add tax to the order (if you provide the tax regions and rates), or delete items, then continue shopping and adding items to the cart.

    On the cart page, there will be one or more "Check Out" buttons, corresponding to one or more payment services than you can specify when you create your bottons. When the customer clicks one of the "Check Out" buttons, he or she will be taken to the PayPal, 2CheckOut, or Authorize.net to pay by credit card, or to PayByCheck to pay from a bank checking account. These are all fully secured sites using the highest industry standards for financial transactions and data storage. To pay through PayPal, a customer will need to open a PayPal account if he or she doesn't already have one, but this is free, and opening the account doesn't take much longer than an ordinary online credit card payment. With 2CheckOut, Authorize.Net, and PayByCheck, your customers do not need to open an account to pay.

    When a customer checks out through eMartCart® and completes the transaction in PayPal, 2CheckOut, or Authorize.Net, you will receive the full order details by e-mail from eMartCart®, with the customers name, e-mail address, and shipping address. You will also receive a payment confirmation by e-mail directly from PayPal or 2CheckOut. Since eMartCart® uses the standard Web input methods for these services, and these methods accept only one item, eMartCart® will transfer to these payment services with the "item description" set to be an assigned "Cart Order Number". The amount to be charged will be the total calculated price for all items, plus tax and shipping (if any). The Cart Order Number in these transactions will match the Subject line in the e-mail message sent to you by eMartCart® with the order details. All customer information, including the credit card number, is obtained directly from the customers by these card services.

    With PayByCheck, your customers will be asked to enter their shipping address and contact information before being transferred to the PayByCheck site. PayByCheck will return the customer to the eMartCart® site if the check transaction is accepted, and eMartCart® will then send you and the customer a copy of the order.

    Technical note: eMartCart® uses browser "cookies" to hold the contents of the cart. Cookies can be disabled (intentionally or accidentally) in a browser. If you receive reports that a shopping cart is not working, please ask the customer to check this browser setting. Please assure your customers that these cookies do not contain any personal information, that cookies can only be sent to the same domain that originally set them, and that eMartCart® cookies are cleared when the customer checks out. Also, note that eMartCart® cookies "expire" after twenty-four hours (one day) if the customer does not check out before then. Otherwise, customers have twenty-four hours to check out (even if they leave your site and return later) before the cart order is discarded.
